Family members got calendars again.  I was lucky that I got nearly 3 months of traveling before the lockdowns came.  I’d hit dozens of National Parks and National Monuments before heading back to Florida.  I had more than enough lovely landscapes to choose from.  Arizona in particular was beautiful.  I had one sent to my sister and 2 sent to Aunt Pam, and those had arrived before Xmas.  I have one calendar left, and I’m saving it for Bree.  I made about 100 cookies and those were given to Grandma for her birthday and to George (ro...

They started requiring facemasks at work even while sitting at the desks.  The vaccine was rolled out this week and distribution started Monday – Medical staff being the first to receive it.  And the...

12-6-2020 Corona Cases     14,258,117 Corona Deaths   266,680       12-12-2020 Corona Cases 15,475,909 Corona Deaths 281,590     Interesting things we did this week Did another 7 miles Sunday morning at Weedon Island.  I could have kept going, but I didn’t want to irritate my toes anymore.  I want to keep doing the miles during the week and cutting Sunday short will allow additional healing on Sunday.  The blackened toenail seemed to be less painful than the little toe issue. Monday morning I woke up and my blackened toenail was very painful.  It looks like the skin from the toe knuckle to the nail is raw and peeling.  So maybe there was more than the single blistered under the toenail.  I used bandaids but the sticky part is touching some of the irritated part, so not sure that is a good thing I started falling behind on my Carmino de Santiago challenge this we...

11-29-2020 Corona Cases    12,957,430 Corona Deaths      252,085   12-5-2020 Corona Cases. 14,087,271 Corona Deaths.  265,600     Interesting things we did this week After my excellent 20 mile walk on Saturday, my Sunday was a little less successful.  I was a awake and full of pep at 5am, but I messed up my feet pretty badly on Saturday.  I’m going to lose a toenail on my right foot and I have a callous/blister combination on the bottom of my right toe which is going to be problematic.  I pushed myself to do 5 miles, I would have liked to do a full 10k, but I was close enough.  The toes are an issue and I probably shouldn’t have gone at all.  I doctored the feet up and taped the toenail down so hopefully it’ll stay put until the new nail starts to emerge.  The blister got a little New Skin and hopefully will merge with the callous portion of the toe.  The weather this wee...

11-22-2020 Corona Cases    11,873,233 Corona Deaths  242,440   11-28-2020 Corona Cases. 12,827,533 Corona Deaths 251,268     Interesting things we did this week   I did my first “long” walk this weekend to try to prep for the upcoming marathon.  I did 11 miles in the morning, then took a break and took care of some errands, ate lunch and rested.  Took off in the late afternoon to Eagle Lake where I did another 5 miles.  My feet hurt quite badly, but I did 16 miles in one day.  I need to take less of a break next time because I lost momentum and allowed my muscles to get cold and would have lost daylight.  I’m going to pack a lunch this weekend and take about an hour break to hydrate and eat and take some ibuprofen and try to keep going.  I have a few more weeks before I have to do the 27 miles.  I still have the multiday option if I’m not able to pull it off, but it’s a nice challenge and I’...
