Interesting things we did this week

  • Did 13 miles on Sunday – 10 at Weedon in the morning and then 3 with Bree at Eagle Lake.  I was getting caught up with my Carmino de Santiago Challenge, but during the rest of the week, I wasn’t getting up well at 5am.  I did it Monday, but then overslept on Tuesday and on Wednesday….I could have sworn I heard it raining outside and I went back to bed.  When I got up at 6, it hadn’t rained at all.  Saturday is my 26.2 and I want to take some time off Thursday & Friday, so maybe Wednesday night I’ll knock out a few miles.
  • They started requiring facemasks at work even while sitting at the desks.  The vaccine was rolled out this week and distribution started Monday – Medical staff being the first to receive it.  And they are tightening the rules at work.  Apparently there is some kind of spike cases and they are trying to combat that.  As far as I know, cases have been rising consistently since April, but I haven’t been tracking Pinellas County cases, so perhaps there is.  Probably due to all the people traveling from Thanksgiving.  Nut job Kirk Cameron held two large community Christmas Carol parties this month, hundreds of people.  Its illegal, gatherings this large, but he’s obvious above the law and doesn’t care about spreading the virus.  Personally, I think he should be held criminally liable, but that isn’t going to happen.  He’s a rich white man and he’ll fight religious freedom…which the courts are hesitant to argue with.  A persons right to meet in large groups to sing vs a persons right to spread potentially fatal diseases.  The people that showed up are taking their own risks and if they die, I don’t really care.  But they are taking it home and spreading it to other people…people that didn’t show up at a large sing-a-long without masks.
  • The election is official this week and Biden has been announced the winner.  To date, the 2000 election is the only one to be decided by the US Supreme Court. Trump is still pouting and claiming it was fixed.  He has filed multiple (over 50) law suits demanding that the election be reversed.  He’s claiming things like the absentee ballots are invalid, at least the ones that weren’t voting for him.  Here are some of the suits:  In Michigan, the Trump campaign filed a federal lawsuit to block the certification of results in Wayne County, citing complaints from poll watchers, In Georgia, an attempt was made to stop the count in Chatham County, alleging problems with ballot processing, in Nevada, a suit asked that Mr Trump be named the winner in the state or that the results be void with no winner certified, alleging illegal voting.  So far the courts have been asking for evidence to support the claims and there isn’t any.
  •  Did the Honolulu Marathon on Saturday the 19th.  It went well.  Took a small break every 10 miles and took Aleve.  I could probably do the one in Hawaii next year.
  • I'm down to around 170lbs, possibly.  That may have just been a lot of dehydration.
