Interesting things we did this week
- Did another 7 miles Sunday morning at Weedon Island. I could have kept going, but I didn’t want to irritate my toes anymore. I want to keep doing the miles during the week and cutting Sunday short will allow additional healing on Sunday. The blackened toenail seemed to be less painful than the little toe issue.
- Monday morning I woke up and my blackened toenail was very painful. It looks like the skin from the toe knuckle to the nail is raw and peeling. So maybe there was more than the single blistered under the toenail. I used bandaids but the sticky part is touching some of the irritated part, so not sure that is a good thing
- I started falling behind on my Carmino de Santiago challenge this week. Last week was cold with messed up toes and this week was also cold with messed up toes. But I figured out the math on Thursday and decided to push forward and get ahead again. For the most part, if I do 6 miles a day – every day – I’ll still make the goal. So that’s pretty reasonable, and on the weekends I do more. I just can’t take the weekdays off anymore just because its cold. Thursday I did a mile at lunch and then 6 miles after work. I figured out if I go to Weedon immediately after work and keep up a par 20 minute mile, I can get 6 miles in in the evening. If I keep up working in the morning, I can easily do 10 miles a day. This is probably going to destroy my ability to donate plasma, but we’ll see. I’ll need to super focus on getting enough protein.
- I woke up with a weight of 173lbs on Thursday and got an evening weight of the same. I know part of that was because of dehydration but I’m taking it. I had a 24 ounce protein shake and gained 4 lbs…not sure how that happened.
- I’ve added blue highlights to my purple hair. Its pretty awesome.
- Gil and I went to Universal Studios with Gina and Phil on Saturday. The crowds were ridiculous and the lines were horrible. But we had a nice time hanging out with Gina and Phil. We had a nice lunch on site and went to Manny’s Chophouse for dinner. I think Gina and Phil are starting to feel the isolation from Covid as they mentioned a number of times they’d come down to St Pete so we could all hang out. As an introvert, coming to work everyday and living with two boys, I’m not feeling the isolation at all. I forget the people from home aren’t getting the same kind of human interactions.
- The CDC has finally approved a vaccine for Covid-19 and its scheduled to start being distributed next week. My travels may not be as delayed as I thought they would. I need to start hoarding my money now as I’m not going to have the extra 6 months of wages to count on. Just as well, not sure how much longer I could work this job. I can work outbound until the cows come home, but inbound is exhausting for an introvert and I’m about done with it.
- Trump is fighting the election and is filing law suits all over the place trying to throw out the votes for Bide and overthrow the government. He’s still insisting that he won the election and that the votes were rigged. There has been extensive checking by voting officials and there is no evidence. I’m curious as to what will happen if he refuses to leave the White House. Could be an interesting time in January. Most people, republicans included, are embarrassed by his behavior. However, the white supremacists, huge trump supporters, have started rioting in Washington DC and burning churches and Black Lives Matter art.
