Interesting things we did this week

  • On Sunday, after my big walk on Saturday, I really wasn’t up for walking anymore.  But I made contact with a member of my Camino group and she lives locally.  We decided to do a nice walk around Snell Island and North Shore Trail.  She is very energetic and I was having difficulty keeping up, but this is a good thing.  I haven’t really had any challenges or a pacer.  Our pace was below 18 minute mile for 4 miles.  That was my old “comfortable pace” before the heart thing.  I think it’s going to be good to have another walking partner, especially one that challenges me.
  • Started training for Chargebacks this week.  I have mixed feelings about this.  I was really enjoying working Key Bank now that they have lots more help and it isn’t so crazy.  But at the same time, taking 2 phone calls an hour (sometimes) isn’t really an efficient use of my time or the companies payroll.  I used to work Chargebacks when I was at Chase and I enjoyed it.  The training isn’t very good, the person in charge is probably very good at chargebacks but he doesn’t know how to train people.  Its very hard to pay attention and I’m not learning anything.  I’m hoping some of my previous experience comes back and starts filling I the blanks.
  • Friday was my birthday and I had tickets for Unenchanted at the Largo Performing Arts Center.  2 people canceled and I couldn’t get anyone else to come, which was depressing.  But one of the girls was able to bring a friend, so at least one ticket was used.  The show was being done by a local cast and they were very talented.  They have a few other shows this year but I probably won’t be able to do the other shows as I’ll be out by then.  Its nice to see a little theater taking place though, even through the pandemic.
  • Saturday was spent at Hollywood Studios.  There was the new Star Wars Land to check out…bigger than the Anaheim version.  We were able to do both the new Star Wars attractions, Slinky Dog Dash and Mickey & Minnies Runaway Train – all the newest rides.  We also caught a little show with Lightning McQueen, which I hadn’t seen before.  Did the RocknRoller Coaster and Tower of Terror….the two more adult rides.  Gils disability pass was very useful, even though I’m not disabled, I’m not sure I could have stood in line for 60 minutes at a time…my back would have been killing me and there is no way Gil could have done it either.  We could put in for a return time, then use the bathroom or get a snack or do something that was less of a wait time and come back when our time is due.  We got a little taste of it at Universal, but we didn’t plan well and it didn’t work out very well.  But we learned from our mistakes and made it work this time.  We’ll use it again at Animal Kingdom and Epcot for our last two tickets.  Neither park has a huge amount of rides, but the rides they do have always have long waits.  We should have done it the first time at Epcot, but the only time it would have mattered was with Soarin’.
  • I took the Gopro to Disney so hopefully I'll have more video footage to play with next week. I think I'm getting better.
  • I went off diet for the extended weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the coconut shrimp, popcorn, pretzel with cheese, sloppy Joe and other yummy goodness. Oddly, often times my memories of these foods are sometimes better than the actual food.
