Interesting things we did this week
- Spent Sunday in Lakeland and went back to Circle B Bar Reserve and spent 6 hours. I’m pretty sure I walked the majority of the park (not the trail that leads outside the park) and I got in 12 miles…very slow miles because I had a camera. I got shots of bald eagles, wild turkey, gators, baby raccoons, turtles, a snake, and about every type of wading bird in the book. And then I ran out of battery. That’s when I ran into the wild pigs….I took some lousy photos with the phone but I couldn’t zoom in and I didn’t want to spook them. After the 12 miles there, I broke for lunch and then headed over to the Gator Creek Reserve. Didn’t see any gators but did see a herd of deer…no camera and they spooked just as I was getting close enough to see they deer and not livestock. Ended the day with 19 miles and loads of photos. Haven’t downloaded them yet as my computer has limited memory and I’m in the middle of a project. Hoping to be able to do that next weekend.
- Temps dropped again this week and its bitter cold out there. Even the dog doesn’t want to go outside in the morning. I’ve skipped walking for 4 days in a row. I’ll probably skip tomorrow too. Saturday is looking good though, I’ll need to crank out some miles to make up for the rest of the week.
- Working from home is going well. I like being able to multi-task and use my unused minutes in a productive fashion. I do miss my work chair and the bigger desk. But switching out laundry on my break is a nice use of time. I like playing with puppy on breaks. I like having the entire fridge at my disposal everyday for lunch (may cause problems in the future).
- Gil and I decided to do the Disney tickets and I’m really happy. I’m concerned about Gil dealing with a large theme park, I know he’ll push himself but I also know the walking is extensive and its going to be exhausting. We are considering alternatives.
- Lisa met me at Boyd Hill on Saturday and did 8 of my 13 miles with me. It was nice to catch up and have company on the walk. She’s getting ready to move from the area (her condo has already sold) and it may literally be the last time I see her, which makes me sad.
- I hit 164 on a midday weight this week, so I may have broke through the plateau I’ve been on. I’ve been bounching between 165-170 for weeks, never dropping below the 165 mark. I hope this is a good sign and not a one off.
