Interesting things we did this week

  • Sunday Gil and I went to Dr BBQ in downtown St Pete.  There wasn’t an overwhelming amount of keto choices, but the waiter suggested a side of eggs and a side of brisket and that made me super happy.  I went with the Carolina Mustard based BBQ, so it limited the sugar.  I expect we’ll come here again.  I got some of the BBQ in a to-go cup and was able to utilize a few times during the week.  It was a nice change of pace.
  • I bought a bed frame for George.  So now he can have a bed that doesn’t hurt his back and we can put the other bed back together in the spare room.  I want to get that room up and running again so we can rent it out and start bringing in more money for Gil.
  • I woke up Monday morning to 165lbs.  I expect I was dehydrated, but it made me happy.  It didn’t stick around and I expect I won’t see that weight again until the weekend (with any luck).  I did the blood donation Tue/Thu so I cut calories after that.  I’ll pick them back up on Sunday/Monday.  Hopefully I can move that bracket to 160-165 by the end of the weekend.
  • Did the Disney Marathon Weekend Half on Saturday.  I’ll work the 10k on Sunday morning.  I’m using the time for this half as a base for the next three.  I know I’m never going to be fast, but I’d like to work on increasing my personal best.  I averaged at a 20:55 minute pace, which is pretty consistent with what I’ve been doing.  I’m hoping to get below a 20 minute mile for the next race.
  • Disney released the regular Star Wars marathon sign up.  The one I had originally signed up for was released as Virtual.  I guess they were holding out to see if they would be able to hold the Star Wars Rival Marathon as a regular race, but apparently they decided not to.  The races were released recently and I was able to sign up for the 5k, 10k and Half Marathon.  I signed Gil up for the 5k too.  We missed out on last years, but this year we’ll be able to do it.  Won’t be the same experience, but it should still be fun and motivate him to leave the chair.
  • I’ve started getting motivated to work on Gils house again.  I have a list of things I want to get accomplished and with or without help, I’m going to get those worked on.  We need to get a roommate in that back room, and the house needs to be nicer before we do that.
  • We’ve made the decision to save Costa Rica until we all got our vaccines.  We won’t have it by my birthday, but waiting a few months will ensure we are all safe and we aren’t catching/spreading Covid to the CR residence.  This will also mean we can do a turtle nesting tour, which would be fantastic.
  • The election stuff should be over by now, with the exception of the transition from the old president to the new president.  That isn’t good enough for trump though.  Bat shit crazy boy has been talking about over throwing the government for the last month, and got caught last week threatening to put the Governor of Georgia in jail if he didn’t “find” the trump votes and change the election results.  Keep in mind that the election is over, the Supreme Court has already ruled and Biden is the new president.  Period.  Trump is still scheming to stay in office.  I kind of figured it would come down to the National Guard having to physically remove him from the White House, but it got a little more interesting.  Trump is continuing to tell people that he won the election by a landslide and that the whole thing is fixed.  He’s acting like an entitled child that has never been told NO before.  He wants to be president and he WILL BE president.  At all costs.  Soooo….On January 6, 2021, when Congress was scheduled to affirm Biden’s win, trump made a speech claiming victimhood to a major conspiracy.  All those people that have been burning churches and BLM banners?  The armed mob stormed the Capital.  5 people are dead and over 50 law enforcement officers were injured.  Trump told the rioters:  “So go home, we love you, you're very special.”  Trump may be facing criminal charges for his behavior over the last month and for inciting the riot.  He’s practically out of office, but it looks like Impeachment is back on the table.  They can’t let this type of behavior go with consequences

May has turned into a the beginning of the next stage.  We’ve been fully vaccinated and the world is slowly starting to open back up.  I’ve put together the Costa Rica trip, which is now taking place in August, as the airfare is much cheaper.  I was able to get it through SW and use my point, yay!  I’ve booked lodging for 11 days - $300 for the first 10 days and $100 for the last day, lol.  I could have gone cheap on the last day, I have places that I use close to the airport, but the name brand hotels next to the airport are usually really expensive and I was able to get one for $100.  We’ll have a full hot breakfast (included in the room) and a ride to the airport.  Our flight is at 8am, so I figured being really close and having that breakfast available would be worth the extra cost.  Plus, a pool, a bar and air conditioning will be nice as we wind up to go home.   I’ve rented a room in Paris for the month of November.  Th...

July started off with a bang – Hurricane Elsa came up the coast and after much tracking and work warnings, it did virtually no damage.  We barely even got any rain.  Based on the radar, someone was getting it, but it pretty much skipped over us. The weekend before the hurricane we were still getting a bunch of rain.  It limited what we could do and I know Gil likes to go out and do things on the weekend as he spends way too much time in front of the tv during the week.  So we went to a flea market in Lakeland that offered a free circus show and alligator farm on the premises.  The circus performed on two different stages at different times of the day and were basically just local performers with some skill.  There was a girl who had trained cats, a magician, a mime…they were all talented individuals but it was about what you would expect from a free circus.  Gil and I both took our turns to be photographed with a live alligator....

Corona US Cases August 30 - 5,893,373 Corona US Cases September 5- 6,141,077 Corona US Deaths August 30 - 171,588 Corona US Deaths September 5 - 176,942 Interesting Things that happened this week: - Got back on the walking wagon this week.  After two weeks of slacking, i got the bug back again.  I think with the plasma donation twice a week plus doing miles outside in Florida in summer, the hydration thing is taking its toll.  I try to hydrate all the time, but I don't think its enough.  Two weeks of not sweating my ass off on a semi daily basis has made me feel better. - Met with Bree at the Largo Central Nature Preserve again and we knocked out 3 miles there.  I did a little more after she left, but Bree kept up for 3 miles.  I think that was a little challenging for her but I'm excited she was able to keep it up.   - Headed...
