Interesting things we did this week
- Sunday I did the Disney Marathon Weekend 10k, and I admit, I kind like doing the Half first and the 10K second. I averaged at 21:14 minute mile, which wasn’t as good as yesterday, but I was still a little tired and the difference was minimal.
- Sunday afternoon, Bree and I went to a park in Lakeland. I haven’t been on a hiking walk for a while, I’ve been very focused on getting in miles and making good times. We went to the Circle B Bar Reserve. This is a fantastic park. People were out in droves. Walkers, bikers and photographers. There were some pretty impressive camera set ups there. I got a bunch of shots: bald eagles, osprey, red shoulder hawk, sandhill cranes, great blue herons, little blue heron, vultures and pretty much every type of bird in central Florida. There is a mating pair of painted buntings that I want hunt down and get some shots of. Also owls. I might have seen one, but I can’t know for sure, it was fast and too far away. In terms of other wildlife, we saw lots of alligators and a couple juvenile raccoons. We saw a flight between a bald eagle and an osprey. I got a few decent photos. We are totally going back to that park.
- I bought BitCoin this week. It’s a nerve racking thing because its such a risky thing, but it just keeps going up and at this point I feel stupid for not investing when I originally set up the account and chickened out a couple of years ago. I should be able to double my current savings by the end of the year, by just putting 5000 in, based on current speculation. If it crashes, I’ll cry but it won’t throw my plans array. I’ve decided to pull a good chunk of savings out and invest it in something else…as my high percentage savings account has dropped every month and now is paying me ½% interest. I should have put it all in Tesla.
- I’ve been consistent with my plasma donations and this week I was able to get back to the highest pay in my weight class. I’m down to the second weight class, so I’m not getting top dollar, but the difference is very small and I get done so much faster. Thursday I was done in 46 minutes. I’m going to try to super hydrate next time and see if I can be even faster.
- I pulled another 5000 out of savings this week and bought more Tesla and Canopy. Tesla is up significantly more than the first time I bought it and I wish I’d got more stock at that time. But I’m pretty sure its going to remain stable and I need a higher interest rate than what the savings account can do. I want to put another 5000 somewhere but haven’t decided where yet. Bitcoin offers the largest profit but also the largest risk. We’ll see.
- Trump got impeached again this week. First time in history a president has been impeached twice. Not sure if the Senate is going to remove him though. There are only a few days left on his term and in reality criminal charges should be pressed but its possible that everyone just wants him gone and the end of his term is near and the laziest way to handle it is to let it expire, but that would as good as condoning the behavior. As well as providing another example of how white privilege exists.
- Hit Walmart for Groceries this week and was surprised to see some keto options that aren’t offered at Aldi or Save-a-Lot. I got a frozen keto pizza and frozen waffles. I did the pizza on Saturday afternoon and admittedly, I didn’t love it. But next time, I will add some onion and mushroom and perhaps it will be better.
- Did 10 miles at Boyd Hill on Saturday morning. I should have done a few more miles, I want to keep the miles high, but I had things to do and I was feeling anxious with the time I was using at the park. Plus, it was cold.
- While I was doing steps at the park, I was watching the sun rise and wondering if Boyd Hill would be a good location for a time released sun rise. It soon became apparent that it probably won’t work. Maybe along the bridge…but even though the sun rises half an hour after the park options during the winter, its already solidly light in the dawn. So I starting thinking about doing a sunset instead. Gil and I went out to Pass-a-grille and went to the roof at the Hurricane and did a time release of the sunset. It was cloudy which made part of it probably fantastic, but the clouds were low and we didn’t actually get the setting part. But we did get some pretty cool light through the clouds and some great colors. I haven’t downloaded the footage yet, but we’ll see how it turns out.
- Hit a yard sale on Saturday and ended up getting a bike rack for my car for $10! I was very very happy. I need to call Mike and get my bike fixed up and start riding. I’m thinking about switching one of my Challenges to biking, it will use other muscles and will help in the fitness realm.
- Gil and I had drinks and dinner at the Gulfport Brewery. A very expensive outing, but it was nice to check out another local brewery. We shared a flight of 6 beers and a buffalo chicken dip. I hated most of the beers other than one of the sours and one of the ciders. Gil loved the coffee one but didn’t love the many of the others. I probably should have let him pick out a few more. But you don’t know you’ll hate it until you try it.
