Interesting things that happened this week

  • Sunday Gil finally did his 5k and earned his Wizard medal and wand.  I was just happy to get it over with.  When I first ordered those I was still just barely completing the 5k distance and was working towards a 10k distance.  Now, I’m doing a 5k (or close to it) every morning before work and doing half marathon distances on the weekend.  It annoyed me to have the package sitting there with our shirts, wands and medals in it.  Now its opened and distributed and I don’t have to worry about it anymore.
  • After Gils 5k, we went for a beer tasting at a local brewery called 81 Bay Brewing Co.  We got a sample of 4 beers so we each choose 2.  They had no low carb beers so I ended up getting 2 fruity type sours.  They weren’t bad.
  • I signed up for the Honolulu Marathon this week.  The full marathon.  With as much as I’m walking, I started thinking I could increase the range an maybe fly to Hawaii for the 2021.  I went and checked the website and before you know it, signed up for the 2020.  It has been changed to virtual and I signed up for the multiday option…which I KNOW I can complete, but I’m going to try to do it all in one day.  There isn’t a time limit, so I can take a break halfway through and eat a meal and have a Red Bull if I feel the need.
  • Trump lost the election and 2021 will be a less humiliating year for the US.  He’s taking it as well as expected.  Accusing everyone of voter fraud etc and his cult following all believe him.  Just like when he accused everyone of voter fraud the first time, because he couldn’t believe anyone wouldn’t vote for him.  Arrogant.
  • We got a hurricane in St Pete.  It was a little one but the office closed for a short time and we got a lot of wind and rain.
  • Started donating Plasma again this week.  I’ve come up with a workable system, I don’t go on days I’ve worked out hard, especially the weekends when I’m doing my long walks.  The day before I do the donation, I go heavy on the protein.  Really heavy.  This way I’m not wasting tons of protein powder and I’m not wasting what I’ve consumed fixing my muscles.  I do realize that I’m still probably needing more protein under the circumstances, but I think this system will work.
  •  I bought us tickets to do the Dali this week and after double checking, I bought for the wrong week.  The Van Gough exhibit doesn't open until the 21st.  So we hung out at the Dali for a bit.  It was nice to see it again.  I love the new building, which isn't that new anymore.  And I love the garden in the back.
