Interesting things that happened this week

  • Hit IKEA and bought pretty bottles and hit ABC and bought grain alcohol.  Got some flavorings at Publix.  Vanilla is expensive, we may not do that.  I wanted to get the infusing started this week, but we decided to soak the bottles really good in a cleaning solution.  We’ll mix up the ingredients next week.
  • Made keto friendly cornbread and veg soup on Sunday.  It was really good.  I got 4 thumbs up from the boys.
  • Trying to keep my protein levels up is getting expensive, if my current plan doesn’t work, I may just stop donating blood…or donating so often.  I’m going through $25 worth of protein powder per week, that adds up.  I went in on Wednesday and my protein was up to 6.6, which I think is the highest its been.  All last week I was doing the protein powder, but I don’t think It was absorbing into my system.  I’ve added vinegar to my protein drinks and I’m being  more diligent about my vitamins – both my bariatric and Emergen-C vitamins contain B-6, which is required to break down the amino acids.  This week, I’m going to cut back on the protein a little and see if I can find a nice balance.  This will allow me to live on something other than massive amounts of protein water and save money.
  • Got Gil to the park on Tuesday.  We did 2 miles before he teetered out.  It’s the first walk we did since his ankle injury.  I got him back out on Wednesday, but we were only able to do a little over a mile.  I think we’re going to need to take breaks in between the walks, at least until that ankle gets built back up.
  • Gina & Bree & I have started planning our trip to Costa Rica.  Gina found a deal on TravelZoo with 3 days in Arenal and 3 days in Manual Antonio.  It includes airfare and lodging.
  • I started a project on Video Editor, its turned into a really big project.  I did it on the work computer to give me something to do in between phone calls.  Now, I may not be able to get it off the computer.  Its an 18 minute video.  The file is too big to email to myself and I tried to move it to an SD card but security on the work computers blocks it.  This may have been a lot of work for nothing.  But I can share it with people from work, so there is that.
  • Went to "The Complete Works of Shakespear" at the Straz on Friday with Gil, Gina & Phil.  It was outside, but it was still nice to be at the theater.  I didn't love the play, it was a comedy, which I knew, but a lot of pop culture, so I didn't get the jokes.  We were also in a place were multiple heads were in my way, so that was an issue.  But it was nice to be back at the Straz anyway.
  • Failed protein for the 3rd time in 5 weeks.  I think I'm done with plasma donation.  I have to chose between plasma and marathon training and my health comes first.  I made take a break and try it later.
