Interesting Things that happened this week:
- Got back on the walking wagon this week. After two weeks of slacking, i got the bug back again. I think with the plasma donation twice a week plus doing miles outside in Florida in summer, the hydration thing is taking its toll. I try to hydrate all the time, but I don't think its enough. Two weeks of not sweating my ass off on a semi daily basis has made me feel better.
- Met with Bree at the Largo Central Nature Preserve again and we knocked out 3 miles there. I did a little more after she left, but Bree kept up for 3 miles. I think that was a little challenging for her but I'm excited she was able to keep it up.
- Headed over to the Walsingham Park after work one day with the idea that I could do the 6 mile trail. The loop around the lake, if you just do the loop is 3.4 miles. I was disappointed but I'd started around 5:30pm during a heat advisory (I didn't know there was a heat advisory at the time). Its probably better that I didn't do 6 miles as I was sweating bullets. I played around online and I've figured out how to make it 6 miles, so when I'm ready to do the 10k, I should be able to do it there.
- I signed up Gil and I for a Wizard 5k, and we'll get shirts and wands and medals and I think it'll be good for his self esteem. Its virtual, so we do it on our own time.
- I signed me up for a 10k, I'll get a shirt and a medal. I'm about a week to 10 days away from completing the Hadrian Wall Challenge. I'm going to try to do the 10k after that. I haven't done more than 5 miles at one time so far, but the heat has a lot to do with that. I'm hoping now that its Sept, the temps will start coming back down a little bit. I figure that this will push me to increase whether I want to or not. Its called the Ok'est Runners Club 10k. The shirt made me laugh so I signed up for this one. They have since sent me advertisements for other races with funny names. I may sign up for more before this is over.
- Did another video this week. Figured out a few more of the functions. Again, there aren't a lot of options and I'm not sure how I missed them before, but I was happy with this attempt. I want to start taking more video footage so I can have a stock pile to work with. I went onto Merideth Marsh's website and read through all her blogs. She mostly does video tutorials, but she has a number of articles that are going to help me get started. It helps to read through her information so that it becomes less intimidating to start. I'm feeling a little less overwhelmed and I'm going to start the beginners "30 days of GoPro" series, a series she developed to get people started on their GoPro. I'm pretty excited.
- The GoPro is starting to act up and I'm not sure if its me or the GoPro. I used it at the zoo and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Sometimes it does burst shots and sometimes it does video. I missed a lot of video when I really wanted to the video. I had the same problem at the dog park, trying to get video of Xena. Sometimes its bursts and sometimes its video and sometimes it locks up and I can't make it do anything. I watched an intitial tutorial and I'm trying to remember how to change things. So I'm either remembering incorrectly, or there is a glitch in the camera. I need to rewatch the tutorial again.
- Gil fell at the dog park Friday night. Sprained his ankle. Looks like we won't be doing the 5k this week. its swollen up like a baseball. I've been making him elevate it and ice it and ibuprofen to get it heeled faster.
- I failed the physical twice this week at plasma donation. I'm down $100. The first time was because I bruised last Friday around the puncture wound and they wouldn't restick me until the bruising heals. Friday, I failed the heart rate. I can go back today to try to repass it. I'm not sure my heart pills are still working, I may need to up the dosage. I'm keeping them in the car and they are over a year old, and I think they are loosing their potency.
- I picked up all the ingredience for keto pot pie this week and I'm going to try to cook it over the weekend. It looks really simple, but we'll see.
