March 26, 2020 St Pete FL - preparations
Up early and went to the car mechanic. They weren't very busy, but that worked well for me. I waited for my service, which I don't always do, but the theater was closed and restaurants were closed...so waiting was my best option. If it was a long service, I'd have Gil drop me off. It was quick. Found out my tires are on their last let and the boot around my axle joint is cracked. Got the estimates for those.
Headed to the laundry mat and did lots and lots of laundry. I hadn't done laundry since Lancaster in late February. Did my sheets and pillow cases and all the clothes. It was a very long day at the laundromat. Once I'm washing once or twice a week, I can wash at Gils, but his dryer doesn't work and trying to do 20lbs of laundry and have it air dry in the laundry room or run on the air cycle on the dryer with no heat element, its ridiculous. But I'm 100% caught up after the laundromat and I have lots and lots of clean clothes.
Loaded up my clean clothes and headed to Publix. I needed to load up on things that would sustain me/us for at least a month. Or that was my goal. I spent over $100. I love Publix. They have all my favorite food. I bought 6 different kinds of salad/dip. And fresh veg to eat it with. Chicken salad, Seafood Cheese Dip, Mexicali Dip, etc. I bought bacon and bread and fancy butter. I spent way too much money, but I would be eating good for a long time.
I'm going to get so fat during this lockdown, but I'm going to eat soooo happy.
Coronavirus deaths passed 1,000 late this night as we were watching the numbers. The first death from coronavirus was reported on February 29, 2020. In 4 weeks and 1 day, we went from 1 to over 1,000. The momentum is starting to pick up and this is the beginning of a really bad April. I've finally realized that this isn't going to pass. I won't be traveling anywhere in June. There is talk that this could continue until Sept or Oct....or at least the travel bans. I've made the decision to get a job and start stashing cash away until this is over.
