March 25, 2020 - Florida Panhandle

I was trying to drive slow and enjoy the scenery, but it was hard.  I was only about 5 hours away from St Pete, so I call Gil to see if he wants to host me.  The last high risk location I was at was the Carlsbad Caves in New Mexico and that was 7 days before.  I'd still been out in the world since then, but mostly in my car.  I did still need public restrooms and gas stations along the way, and although limited exposure, I was still being explosed.  He didn't seem real worried about it and said I could come.  I would stay in MC's 2nd bedroom aka The Office.  We would limit contact and such until I was deemed safe.

Gil's brother was at the house in the morning helping with some house work.  Once I showed up, he would stop coming by.  His father in-law was in very poor health, and he couldn't risk exposure.  So I slept late and took the scenic route down US19.  I was scheduled to get to St Pete around 5pm-ish.  Once I got close, I hit Aldi's so stock up on a few groceries.  I was really sick of cans of Spaghetti-O's and pork and beans.  I really wanted Caesar Salad and cucumbers.  I knew I'd have to do actual grocery shopping before settling in for the long haul, but tonight I would eat fresh veg.

I called my mechanic to see if they were open.  My oil change light had come on around Tucson and I knew it needed to be done soon.  Luckily, they were slow and could get me in first thing in the morning.

It was nice seeing Gil again and settling in.  Being somewhere I could just exist without the expectation of spending money in some way.  I do that in the car also, but there is always that fear that someone will notice you and cause trouble.  Usually doesn't happen, but its still always a thought in the back of your head.  We were able to have good food and fresh salad and watch some tv.  It was a good night.

In regards to Corona new....total cases for today are 68,354.  Jerry Farwell Jr has reopened Liberty University to classes, regardless of the advice of health professionals and having an advanced online program.  I can't travel anymore, because this is a serious thing, but he can reopen his campus and let all his students get infected.  Doesn't seem right.
