March 16 & 17 Library Days
Monday morning, I hit the library. Time to download lots of photos and get caught up. I announce my intentions on Facebook and lots of people posted articles stating there libraries were closed indefinitely in order to slow the spread of coronavirus. Things were getting somewhat serious. Known coronavirus cases jumped to over 4600 in four days and 88 dead. Everything is starting to shut down. I'm still not super concerned, I'm still living a pretty solitary life. All the dining rooms are closed in restaurants and the Lowell Observatory closed to the public along with some movie theaters. Its not a national mandate, so service is going to be spotty.
I spent the entire day at the library and cranked out as much work as I could. Didn't get it all done.
I come back on Tuesday morning and the Las Cruces Library is closed. I call the museum. They are closed. I head to El Paso. I call their library. Its OPEN! Hooray! But I know I'm starting to realize that I need to get home. I still have 3 National Parks on my A list and Laura Haeussler-Fisher to see in Dallas. Then I still have my Aunt Pam's anniversary party in Nashville on April 4th. I email my cousin to see if the party is still a go and she confirms it is. I email Laura to find out if I'm still welcomed and she doesn't know, she's got some life drama with her mom and she may not be in town at the same time I am.
I read a comment somewhere making an observation that the State of Florida may go into quarantine. It was probably just a joke but it did make me start considering how made this situation could get. I had 3 parks and I could go home. Could easily make it home in 2 days from there. I email my cousin and tell her I'm not sure I'm coming to the party. I'm worried about getting shut out of Florida.
I think the shit has officially hit the fan.
I really like a lot of the libraries I've been in across the country. Some have fun architecture, some have cool art others have great programing.
