Corona US Deaths April 18 - 34,178
Interesting things that happened this week
- I started putting applications...hospitals, grocery stores etc
- I started putting applications...hospitals, grocery stores etc
- We took the dog to the dog park. Liberal use of hand sanitizer after touching the gates, but it was empty, so pretty low risk.
- I tried to make pesto-parmesan pasta and it was a failure
- we've had to turn the air-conditioning on, which makes me sad. I'm grateful for the lower temperature, but I love hearing the rain with the windows open.
- I got my first viral answer on Quora. I make no money off of that. I wish I could think of a good question that would go viral.
- Liberty University decided to close their doors and move all classes to on-line. Students are suing the school for not refunding room and board fees that they'll now need to room and board themselves. Liberty University is suing reporters that came on campus to interview students when the school opened up against recommendations, back in late March.
- Gil made peanut butter cookies, they are very good. He may have also ruined aa baking dish.
- Melting Pot has announced they are closing, possibly forever.
- Cheesecake Factory announced they will probably not survive the lockdown.
- Protests in Lansing, MI and Columbus, OH and Indianapolis, IN this week. The best way to spread the virus. They were all violating the law, not sure why they weren't all arrested. Course, shoving them all in a jail cell is probably more dangerous than the protest.
- I made banana bread this week. It went well.
- Trump told everyone this week that he has total authority over when states reopen. Removing the power from the governors in each state. Later he was informed he doesn't have this power at all and he can't evoke it just by making the announcement.
- AP reported that: "Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government's top infectious disease expert, said Tuesday that the U.S. does not yet have the critical testing and tracing procedures needed to begin reopening the nation's economy ... Fauci said that a May 1 target is 'a bit overly optimistic' for many areas of the country. Any easing off the strict social-distancing rules in place in much of the country would have to occur on a rolling basis, not all at once."
- Trump announced the US would stop funding WHO accusing them of a major cover up. The virus was announced on January 5, response began January 6 and WHO maintained updates throughout. February 28, Trump said it was a hoax. I don't think a coverup was our issues.
