Flagstaff February 1-3

Originally I thought I'd go on an adventure as soon as I was released from my assignment.  But I've been working on photo books (3 this year) for the last 8 weeks and I was halfway finished with the third book when the assignment ended.  The 2019 yearbook was going to be 80 pages this year and was taking up a lot of time.  I think I'm going to take notes this year and maybe start collecting "yearbook" photos in a separate file so 2020 will be easier.  I've done something similar in the past, a little half-assed and it does help.  I think the real problem is trying to put the books together with a small travel laptop.  I did some of the first two books at work during down time, and having a good computer with a large 20 inch screen was a major help.  I kicked though the books in very little time.  Unfortuately, the website eventually triggered some time of security red flag and the site was blocked.  Just at the end of the second book, so I was unable to review and correct any type Os, which are much more easy to see on a 20 inch screen.  I can't even read most of the text on my travel laptop because its so small.

Anyway...I decided to stay in Flagstaff until it was finished.  The voucher is up mid-February and its better just to get it done.  Saturday and Sunday, I was at the library when it opened and moved to the other library when it closed (there are two libraries in Flagstaff and they swap morning / afternoon hours on the weekend).  Sunday night, when I left the library, I only had three pages left.  Three pages that were a little time consuming, but easily to knock out on Monday.  I was going to stay in Flagstaff until Monday anyway as the gym has free pizza on the first Monday of the month.  Free food is a thing I'm very excited about currently. I'm trying to stretch out my last two checks from the Coconino Attorney's office until the end of February.  That's $1000 for four weeks that will include Disney tickets and Disney food.  If I can stretch it to cover the motel bills with Gina, that would be super awesome.  That means, no more steak and no more treats and eat the food I have in my car.  And free pizza on Monday February 3rd.  I might go get steak again today before I leave as its only $9.99 before 5pm and I can eat on it for two days.  I can probably justify that purchase.

I was going to work on fixing the car up before I left, liquidate some things and restructure the front seat (which is getting out of control) but there weather isn't ideal and I might save it to next week.  I want to get a somewhat early start this evening, so I can do half the driving tonight, for tomorrows adventure.

The library is having a quilt showing this week.  The quilts are beautiful and makes me itchy for my sewing machine.

May has turned into a the beginning of the next stage.  We’ve been fully vaccinated and the world is slowly starting to open back up.  I’ve put together the Costa Rica trip, which is now taking place in August, as the airfare is much cheaper.  I was able to get it through SW and use my point, yay!  I’ve booked lodging for 11 days - $300 for the first 10 days and $100 for the last day, lol.  I could have gone cheap on the last day, I have places that I use close to the airport, but the name brand hotels next to the airport are usually really expensive and I was able to get one for $100.  We’ll have a full hot breakfast (included in the room) and a ride to the airport.  Our flight is at 8am, so I figured being really close and having that breakfast available would be worth the extra cost.  Plus, a pool, a bar and air conditioning will be nice as we wind up to go home.   I’ve rented a room in Paris for the month of November.  Th...

July started off with a bang – Hurricane Elsa came up the coast and after much tracking and work warnings, it did virtually no damage.  We barely even got any rain.  Based on the radar, someone was getting it, but it pretty much skipped over us. The weekend before the hurricane we were still getting a bunch of rain.  It limited what we could do and I know Gil likes to go out and do things on the weekend as he spends way too much time in front of the tv during the week.  So we went to a flea market in Lakeland that offered a free circus show and alligator farm on the premises.  The circus performed on two different stages at different times of the day and were basically just local performers with some skill.  There was a girl who had trained cats, a magician, a mime…they were all talented individuals but it was about what you would expect from a free circus.  Gil and I both took our turns to be photographed with a live alligator....
