Route 66 Day 43 Nov 20, 2019
And day three in the motel....I get a call from the temp agency that has an opportunity to work with the Coconino County Attorney's Office...could last a month maybe two (exactly what I was looking for). Yes, I'm interested. Yes, I'll come pick up the paperwork for the background check and get it notorized. I go down to the office and book day 3 in the room. The weather has taken a turn for the worst and my car is covered in snow. I don't want to go out in the yucky roads, but thanks to a mis-shipment of ice scrapers to the Dollar Tree in Florida...I have one! So I clear off all the snow, and happily there isn't any ice and I head out and take care of the paperwork.
After, I hang out in the room and review my clothing options. Any clothing I'm not going to need go into a vacuum bag. Clothing I can use for weekend hiking, the gym or the office get organized on top for easy access. I get them back in the car and the car is basically back in working order. I watch a lot of NCIS on cable (which oddly is playing the same season that I'm currently watching) and start making long term plans for the area.
I will have multiple weekends here, if I get the job. I am 2 hours away from Kingman, AZ, 4 hours away from Las Vegas, 2 hours away from the California border (if I take the expressway), I have the Grand Canyon an hour away, 4 National Monuments between 30-60 minutes away, Sedona is half an hour away and plenty in Flagstaff to do and see. I can make myself very comfortable here for a month or two if I get the job.
