Route 66 Day 32 Nov 9, 2019

I couldn't check into the hotel until 2pm, and I had come up with lots of ways to spend my morning.  Wander the Route 66 area, go to the library and work on my photo work, re-organize the car, etc.  I ended up sitting in the Walmart parking lot for hours watching NCIS and playing on my phone.  I kept thinking I would get productive in just a minute and just a minute lasted hours.  I did finally do my eyebrows, which were way overdo and do a basic job of reorganizing the front seat.  I still haven't found my buff, which I think is under or behind the front seat.  I was able to clear out a lot of trash and put things in a reasonable order....or at least a lot better than it had become.

Got to the hotel around 2:30pm and got checked in.  I'm in the Kirk Douglas room.  It contains a king size bed, a murphy bed, a full kitchen in a built on extension and a patio that overlooks the pool (which is closed because its November).  Kirk Douglas used to stay in this room when he was in town.  He liked the built on kitchen and before the pool was built, there used to be a stable.  He would often travel with his horse and this room gave him direct access to the stable.

My brain exploded into what to do first, like I usually do.  I plugged in my chargeables and then jumped in the shower.  Worked on my computer until 5pm and then decided to drink margaritas in the restaurant while I do my laundry.  Laundry here is $1.00 a load in the washer and $1.00 a load in the dryer.  Significantly cheaper than it was anywhere else I've done it.  Got drunk and did laundry and worked on my computer...super multitasking.

I really don't need all the fancy stuff in this room, I'm only here for one night.  But if I was here for a week, I'd totally use the kitchen and I'd hang out on the patio and I'd sit in the lobby and drink wine by the fire.  This is a very fun and interesting hotel.

I also watched a show on Animal Planet called Crikey!  Its the Irwins!  Its Steve Irwins family continuing his legacy.  His children are all grown up and look just like their dad.  They break up their animal adventures with stories of their dad and it kept getting me choked up.  I know its been awhile, but it still hurts when I remember his death.  So young and unexpected.
